Multidetector CT (MDCT) scanning is not simply an upgrade to your spiral CT scanner or a technique that improves on prior technology by 5-10%. Rather it represents a major technological breakthrough that promises to revolutionize how we think of CT scanning and how we use CT scanning in our practice of medicine. MDCT not only does all of the studies we have always performed (but does it better), but leads to a new range of applications never before possible. The quality of 3D reconstructions whether it is for vascular imaging, orthopedic imaging or virtual imaging is unparalleled. We hope that this series of MDCT protocols will provide you with a resource for your clinical practice.
