Comment: If an adenoma is suspected or is a clinical possibility then noncontrast CTs are done in order to get accurate densitometry values. IV contrast can then be given in cases of suspected tumor or metastases. On noncontrast CT a Hounsfield measurement of 18 or less is consistent with an adenoma.
