CTA Applications of the Thorax

The advent and continued development of spiral CT have resulted in tremendous improvements in thoracic imaging and new diagnostic roles for CT. Three dimensional reconstructions of spiral CT data can aid in diagnostic and presurgical planning for many oncologic and vascular thoracic abnormalities. In many cases, entities which were traditionally diagnosed or evaluated with angiography no longer require an interventional procedure. This atlas reviews and illustrates three dimensional CT displays of normal thoracic vascular anatomy, pathological conditions, data acquisition, and clinical applications.
